Beer-Can Chicken Book

The title may throw you for a spin, however Stephen Raichlen's Beer-Can Chicken instructs you in a simple way to cook moist, tender and flavorful chicken on the grill. First of all, he is a master of the grill ... and then he presents a hilarious style of preparation - absolutely fun! This is an enjoyable book fully inspired by a guy who loves nothing more than outdoor grilling. The techniques he offers are simple, basic and flavorful. If you are not familiar with the technique (sometimes known as Chicken on a Throne), Beer-Can Chicken is achieved by taking a whole chicken and inserting a real beer can/coke can (or a special designed chicken sitter) into its cavity and then setting both on the grill. Of course, you season the bird and can add a world of "extras" to the beer (garlic, onion, rosemary, etc.) before placing it in the chicken. The can, when inserted into the chicken offers a "base" for it to stand on. The beer eventually begins to boil and release flavors that are steamed into the inside of the chicken giving it one of the most enjoyable flavors you have ever tasted! Raichlen also has quite a few non-alcoholic recipes to fit everyone's taste buds. He offers recipes made from cola, ginger ale, peach nectar, lemonade and many more. Just use a soft drink can inserted instead. The Coca-Cola can chicken recipe is top notch!
