For over 75 years, this company has been producing the oldest and most famous names in outdoor smokers. In fact, not even one single nut has been changed! There are loyal Old Smokey fans all over the world. The Old Smokey brand is a backyard staple in Texas and the surrounding states. It should be everywhere. Now, they offer an electric model for those folks seeking convenience in barbecuing, carefree cooking or, due to regulations, cannot have the charcoal variety. (I know one of the managers at Old Smoky who only uses the electric model!) The Old Smokey® Electric Smoker (also known as the "Redi-Smok") is a totally unique approach to cooking. It’s electric! It has a sealed lid to keep the juices in, which means there’s no need to add any water to keep the meat moist and flavorful. The flat top design provides constant even basting. It has two cooking racks and an adjustable heat control for added versatility. It’s electric and practically foolproof. It'll work for hamburgers, but its better for roasts, turkeys, briskets, fish and vegetables. Near the bottom is a 1250W heating element that gets to about 400ºF (200ºC) with the variable heat control set on "high." You can adjust it down to whatever temperature you want by turning the heat control.
